By the 18th century the castle was already in poor condition and was abandoned by its owners. In the 19th century the castle ruins became a popular spot for artists and tourists, who admired its picturesque location by the sea.
Today Duntulm Castle is one of the most important historic sites on the Isle of Skye. Despite its ruined state, the castle attracts visitors from around the world with its rich history and beautiful setting. The castle is open to visitors and offers lovely views of the surrounding landscape of the Isle of Skye.
