- Decline:In the 17th century the castle began to fall into ruin, probably due to neglect and dynastic conflicts.
- Modern times: In the 20th century the castle ruins were partially secured and opened to visitors.
Legends:
- The Green Lady: It is said that at night the ghost of the Green Lady, identified with the unhappy wife of one of the owners, wanders the castle.
- The Black Dog: It is said that around the castle one can encounter the Black Dog, a harbinger of death and misfortune.
- Treasure: According to legend, a Templar treasure is hidden in the castle's concealed chambers.
