Mey Castle (English: Mey Castle) is a castle located on the north coast of Scotland, in the county of Caithness. Mey Castle is one of the youngest castles in Scotland and is famous for many interesting legends and stories.

Mey Castle was built in the 18th century by George Sinclair, the Earl of Caithness. Initially it was a tower house, a residential tower built to defend against external attacks. In 1952, Mey Castle was purchased by the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth, who carried out an extensive renovation.

One of the most interesting legends associated with Mey Castle is the legend of the 'ghost of the Black Rooster'. According to this legend, the rooster's spirit appeared in the castle during one of George Sinclair's hunting trips. At the same time, one of his servants died on the road to the castle, and the villagers believed that the rooster was actually the incarnation of the deceased servant's soul. According to the legend, the rooster's ghost still appears in Mey Castle, especially on dark, stormy nights.

Another interesting story connected with Mey Castle is the one about prophecies. According to local legend, in the 18th century a woman named Jean Gordon, also known as Jean the Seer, predicted that Mey Castle would be built and would remain the property of the Sinclair family for three generations, after which it would be sold. This prophecy came true in 1889, when Mey Castle was sold by the Earl of Caithness.

Today Mey Castle is open to visitors and is one of the most popular castles in Scotland. The castle offers a rich history and beautiful views of the nearby coastline and islands. The castle contains many original pieces of furniture and decorations, as well as memorabilia related to the Queen Mother, who often stayed at Mey Castle.
