Today the castle is not open to visitors, but it can be seen from the outside. It stands on a hill that offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. Thurso East Castle is also frequently photographed by landscape and architecture enthusiasts.

It is worth noting that the area around the castle, and in particular Thurso East beach, is a popular spot for surfing in Scotland and attracts many enthusiasts of the sport.
